Grandma and Grandpa Yard

Grandma and Grandpa Yard are Celia's parents. They spend half the year in South Carolina, just a short drive from our house. Their house is next to Lake Keowee, and we love to take family trips boating on the lake. In the summer, they head to Alaska! A favorite family tradition there is building campfires on the river bank. We can't wait to take our Shiato fish for salmon and play in the greenhouse! (His first trip up there is just a few weeks away, but we doubt he'll be doing any fishing this time). They used to live in Japan, so we are excited for them to teach him about the Japanese language and culture.

Grandma and Grandpa Brown live just a few blocks from the ocean in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Grandma Brown spends much of her time painting and working on fused glass. We can't wait to see her build sandcastles with our Shia! As a former teacher, we know she'll be right there encouraging her grandchild to read. Grandpa Brown loves to work in his garden, walk on the beach and fish in the ocean. It will be so much fun for Shia to go beach combing with him! They'll have a great time reeling in a fish together too!

Uncle Josh & Aunt Bonnie

Jeremy's brother Josh & Bonnie live very close by and we love to get together for dinner and to watch movies - an activity we all enjoy! Josh is great with kids, and when we have big family get-togethers, he loves to play video games with our nephews. Bonnie is very loving and patient. She really knows how to talk to kids and they enjoy her company. We know that they will be terrific as an aunt and uncle. They have a new baby named Aiden. We are so excited that Shia will have a cousin so close in age to grow up with!

Celia's cousin Jocelyn is like a little sister to her. She and her husband, Nate live in Columbus, Ohio. Jocelyn is a terrific writer and artist. We hope she can share some of her work with Shia. Nate comes from a very musical family, and we can hardly wait for him to teach our child about the magic of music.

Celia's sister Sarah and her husband Walt live just around the corner from us. They have three beautiful children that we adore, and we see each other almost every week. We are so lucky that Sarah will is providing our childcare for us. She has been longing to be an aunt! Walt was adopted, so we will rely on him to help Shia over the years if he has questions about being an adopted child. Our nephews, Watson and Carter proved that they are very good with babies when their little sister Greenlee was born. All three kids are great friends and they are really excited to have a new cousin! They can't get over how tiny Shia is.
